A Jordanian molecular biologist and social entrepreneur, she is among the most influential female scientists in the Islamic world and was included in the Women in Science Hall of Fame in 2015. She is a full professor of Molecular Biology at Hashemite University, President of the Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology in the Arab World (SASTA), and President of the Jordan chapter of The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World. She studies the epigenetic transmission of trauma, with a focus on resilience. In her book Five Scarves: doing the impossible - if we can reverse cell fate, why can't we redefine success? she advocates a possible paradigm shift to pursue gender equality and plays five roles: mother of four, educator, scientist, social entrepreneur and Islamic feminist. She founded the children's literacy NGO We Love Reading, for which she won the 2020 UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award for the Middle East and North Africa.

Rana Dajani ist eine jordanische Molekularbiologin und Sozialunternehmerin. Sie zählt zu den einfl ussreichsten Wissenschaftlerinnen in der islamischen Welt und wurde in die Women in Science Hall of Fame aufgenommen. Sie ist Professorin für Molekularbiologie an der Haschemitischen Universität, Präsidentin der SASTA, und Präsidentin des jordanischen Kapitels der Organisation Women in Science for the Developing World. Ihre Forschung konzentriert sich auf die epigenetische Übertragung von Traumata mit einem besonderen Fokus auf Resilienz. In ihrem Buch «Five Scarves » plädiert sie für einen möglichen Paradig- menwechsel bei der Verfolgung von Geschlechtergerechtigkeit und nimmt dabei fünf verschiedene Rollen ein: Mutter von vier Kindern, Pädagogin, Wissenschaftlerin, Sozialunternehmerin und islamische Feministin. Darüber hinausgründete sie die gemeinnützige Organisation «We Love Reading», die sich der Leseförderung von Kindern widmet und wurde dafür 2020 mit dem UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award für den Nahen Osten und Nordafrika ausgezeichnet.

Professoressa ordinaria di Biologia Molecolare all'Hashemite University in Giordania, studia la trasmissione epigenetica del trauma, con particolare attenzione alla resilienza. Nel suo libro Five Scarves: Doing the Impossible - If We Can Reverse Cell Fate, Why Can't We Redefine Success? auspica un possibile cambio di paradigma per perseguire la parità di genere e riveste cinque ruoli (raffigurati da cinque sciarpe): madre di quattro figli, educatrice, scienziata, imprenditrice sociale e femminista islamica. È fondatrice della ONG We love reading per l’alfabetizzazione infantile, per cui ha vinto il Premio Nansen per i Rifugiati dell'UNHCR 2020 per il Medio Oriente e il Nord Africa.
