A British-Polish geneticist, she is the Editor in Chief of Nature, one of the world's most influential multidisciplinary scientific journals. In 2018, she became the first female Editor in Chief in the journal's 150 years. She is also Chief Editorial Advisor for the Nature portfolio.

Participating in the Agenda 2021 of the World Economic Forum in Davos in the debate on the consequences of the crisis from Covid-19, she stressed the need to improve science communication and scientific literacy, which according to her includes three aspects. The first is the knowledge of scientific fact; the second is the understanding of the scientific method, which implies that science is a constantly evolving process; the third is that science affects every aspect of real life. She presides over the jury for the Nature Award for Mentoring in Science and the Nature Award for Inspiring Women in Science. She is a Fellow of the International Science Council.

Magdalena Skipper ist eine britisch-polnische Genetikerin, sowie Chefredakteurin von Nature, einer der einfl ussreichsten interdisziplinären wissenschaftlichen Fachzeitschriften der Welt. Im Jahr 2018 wurde sie die erste weibliche Chefredakteurin in der150-jährigen Geschichte der Zeitschrift. Sie ist außerdem Chefredak-tionsberaterin für das Nature-Portfolio. Im Rahmen der Agenda 2021 des Weltwirtschaftsforums in Davos betonte sie die Notwendigkeit, die Kommunikation von Wissenschaft und wissenschaftlicher Bildung zu verbessern. Dazu gehören ihrer Meinung nach drei Aspekte: erstens das Wissen über wissenschaftliche Fakten; zweitens das Verständnis der wissenschaftlichen Methode, was bedeutet, dass Wissenschaft ein ständig fortschreitender Prozess ist; und drittens, dass Wissenschaft jeden Bereich des realen Lebens betrift. Sie ist Vorsitzende der Jury für den Nature Award for Mentoring in Science und den Nature Award for Inspiring Women in Science. Zudem ist sie Fellow des International Science Council.

Partecipando all'Agenda 2021 del World Economic Forum di Davos nel dibattito sulle conseguenze della crisi da Covid-19, ha sottolineato la necessità di migliorare la comunicazione della scienza e inoltre l'alfabetizzazione scientifica, che secondo lei comprende tre aspetti. Il primo è la conoscenza del dato scientifico; il secondo è la comprensione del metodo scientifico, che implica che la scienza è un processo in continua evoluzione e che alla luce di nuove informazione gli scienziati possono modificare la loro posizione e opinione; il terzo è che la scienza influisce su ogni aspetto della vita reale.
